Brake Repair Service

For the residents of Canton, Norwood, Milton, Stoughton and Randolph your car's ability to stop itself is one of the most important factors to consider before taking it on the road.

The process of braking is rather complicated and requires that a lot of stress be put on the mechanisms involved. Two of the main mechanisms that are repaired or replaced when it comes to brake systems are the brake pads and the brake rotors.

With brake pads, there are two ways you can tell when you are in need of replacement. On most vehicles you can visually inspect the pads through your front tires to check for wear. If your pad is 1/4 inch think, you should plan on replacing it soon, as any pad depths below an 1/8 of an inch are in danger of damaging the rotor (a more expensive fix). You can also tell if your pads need replacement audibly by listening for squealing or squeaking noises.

Brake rotors are the metal plates that the brake pads cause friction to in order to slow the wheels. You can visually tell they need replacing by noticing cracks or excessive rust on the rotors themselves. If you are feeling push back on the brake pedal and/or shaking from the steering wheel when braking, you most likely have a warped rotor that will need to be replaced or machined.

Besides brake pad and rotor repair, the technicians at North End Motors can also service calipers, brake lines and any other brake related issues at an affordable rate!
